What type of things will I be working on?
On this 12-month industrial placement, starting September 2026, you’ll gain skills and experience in all aspects of Early Careers and STEM Outreach.You’ll support key processes, contribute to projects that improve our programmes, and play a part in inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers. This includes:
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of Early Careers marketing collateral and boosting our social media presence to celebrate and promote STEM initiatives.
- Assisting with logging, scheduling and organising school events, including managing the STEM Outreach mailbox and liaising with STEM Ambassadors and Champions to ensure smooth event logistics.
- Contributing to the planning and integration of future skills development into STEM workshops and activities for students aged 10–18, ensuring alignment with UK curriculum goals.
- Helping engineers and educators collaborate to create hands-on experiences and showcase real-world engineering applications as part of our STEM Outreach programme.
- Supporting strategies to engage underrepresented groups and promote gender diversity in STEM.
- Maintaining procedures and best practice guides for the STEM Outreach team.
- Analysing data and collaborating with the team to continuously improve projects.
- Supporting STEM team sponsorships and partnerships.

Where will I be working?
This role is based at one of our main sites near Miskin in South Wales. As Renishaw sites are located in semi-rural areas, applicants must ensure they have reliable means of transport to reach the site, as public transportation options will be limited. Alternatively, applicants should be willing to relocate to the local area.
What do I need?
We welcome applications from students studying any undergraduate degree, including STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), HR, Psychology, Business and Management, Science in Education, Politics, Sustainability, or related fields. If you’re passionate about STEM outreach and developing future talent, we’d love to hear from you.
Training and development is excellent so candidates with no experience but a keen interest in one of these areas will be strongly considered.
