National Supply Chain Management Placement

Join Aldi for a 12-month Supply Chain Management Placement and gain hands-on experience within the team responsible for moving products from suppliers to Distribution Centres across the UK and Ireland. Based at Aldi’s National Office in Atherstone, you’ll see how a major international retailer manages a complex global supply chain, working with data, different transport methods and teams across the business. You’ll receive training and support throughout the placement, while taking on meaningful projects and responsibility before returning to university for your final year.

The Company

Aldi is the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, with more than 1,050 stores across the country and a growing international presence. Its UK National Head Office is based in Atherstone, home to functions including Buying, IT, Corporate Responsibility, Finance and Administration.

The business operates a large and complex supply chain, moving millions of pallets every year by air, sea, road and rail. Its National Supply Chain team works closely with Buying and other areas of the business to make sure products reach Aldi’s Distribution Centres across the UK and Ireland efficiently, in good condition and at competitive supply chain costs.

The Role

During the placement, you’ll join Aldi’s National Supply Chain team and gain experience of the different functions responsible for moving products from their source through to Distribution Centres across the UK and Ireland.

You can expect to spend time with teams covering different elements of the Aldi supply chain, developing an understanding of how international supply chains operate and how decisions are made across a large retail network. The team also works with AI software and big data analytics to support areas such as demand forecasting and replenishment.

As your placement develops, you’ll be given a significant project that could focus on any part of the Supply Chain operation. This will give you the opportunity to take on genuine responsibility and contribute to work with a measurable impact on the business.

You’ll also spend some time working in an Aldi store at the beginning of the placement, helping you understand how the wider business operates and how supply chain decisions affect stores and customers.

Benefits and Perks

  • £30,000 salary for the 12-month placement.
  • Four weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
  • Training and support throughout the programme.
  • Exposure to different teams within Supply Chain Management.
  • Responsibility for a major supply chain project.
  • Experience working within Aldi stores at the beginning of the placement.
  • Typical working pattern of Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility required depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • You must currently be studying towards an undergraduate degree and be looking for a 12-month sandwich placement before your final year of university.
  • A strong interest in how international supply chains operate.
  • An interest in data, forecasting, logistics and the movement of products through a large-scale supply network would be beneficial.
  • A driving licence is required for the Supply Chain Management placement. Access to a car is preferable, although not essential.

Apply Now

If you’re looking for a placement year where you can build practical supply chain experience, work on significant projects and understand how a major international retailer moves products around the world, this is an opportunity for you.
