Tax Apprentice – £26.5K – Brighton
Start your professional career in tax without waiting for university.
If you’re a bright, ambitious school leaver who wants to get into professional services, earn while you learn and build a long-term career in tax, this could be an excellent opportunity to get started.
We’re working with an award-winning chartered accountancy firm in the Brighton and Hove area that is looking to bring an enthusiastic Tax Apprentice into its growing tax team.
Rather than spending the next few years solely studying, you’ll gain practical experience from day one, working alongside experienced professionals and developing the technical and commercial skills needed to progress within tax.
What will you be doing?
You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of personal tax work, giving you the opportunity to discover different areas of the profession as your knowledge develops.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Helping to prepare personal tax returns
- Supporting senior members of the tax team with client work
- Carrying out research for tax-related projects
- Developing your understanding of how tax advice is delivered to clients
- Building your technical knowledge through hands-on experience and formal study
You’ll join a team where learning is part of the role, with a three-year training contract and full study support towards a recognised tax qualification such as ATT or CTA.
Earn, learn and progress
You’ll start on a £26,500 salary, with regular salary reviews linked to your exam results and performance at work. The aim is to give you a clear opportunity to develop professionally and progress over the longer term.
The role is initially office-based, helping you establish strong relationships with your colleagues and get up to speed with the role. After six months, there is the option to move to hybrid working.
There’s also a genuinely sociable side to the firm, with a variety of team social activities taking place throughout the year.
What are we looking for?
You don’t need years of experience to apply. We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate academic ability, ambition and the maturity to thrive in a professional environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- AAB or equivalent at A-Level
- An interest in tax, accounting or professional services
- Evidence of extracurricular activities and/or work experience
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A proactive, hardworking approach
- Some connection to the Brighton and Hove area
- The ability to start immediately
If you’re ready to take your first step into a professional tax career and want to earn a salary while gaining a qualification and real-world experience, we’d love to hear from you.
